Chaplain Services - Pastoral Care
Inherent to the vision and mission of Baptist Village Retirement Communities is the world-view that our residents have needs which transcend the physical as well as social.  Pastoral Care speaks to the conviction that all persons have unique significance and are thus more than material.  As such our Pastoral Care Department offers a caring presence, emotional encouragement and spiritual counsel within the context of the Christian faith while respecting the diversity of faith traditions within the facility.  The Pastoral Care Department is directed by a chaplain who possesses both theological and Clinical-Pastoral training

The following suggests an overview of the primary ministry of Pastoral Care at Baptist Village Retirement Communities:

  • Maintaining sensitivity to the spiritual and emotional needs of residents through consistent contact and visibility.
  • Ongoing and rotating visitation of the residents in their villas, apartments and rooms.
  • Specific and intentional contact with residents who are hospitalized or in crisis.
  • Availability to residents and their families for personal counseling.
  • Provision of Biblically based learning activities designed to encourage and stimulate spiritual as well as cognitive growth.  These range from in-depth Bible study to lighter forms of participatory and interactive Bible games.
